Sunday’s draw at Valencia was the fourth league match without a win, raising serious questions about the team and their title aspirations.
Alongside the draw at the Mestalla, Barcelona have also been held twice at home by Girona and Athletic Bilbao in recent weeks.
They also lost their first match of the season in embarrassing circumstances at bottom of the table Leganes.
Fans are now growing tiresome with the poor results and the future of Ernesto Valverde is now being questioned.
One stat that might provide some answers is that Gerard Pique has made an error in five of the last six goals Marc-Andre ter Stegen has conceded.
The latest mistake came in Sunday’s draw at Valencia when he got out of the way of Ezequiel Garay’s header that had given the hosts the lead.
Pique has also made the error of clearing the ball straight to attackers as well as not tracking his man in the matches against Girona, Leganes and Athletic Bilbao.
However, it is not just Pique who needs to improve, with the majority of his team-mates needing to up their game if they are to start picking up points.
Last season, Barcelona’s reliable and assured defence was a key component of their double winning side which now seems a distant memory.
Pique retired from international duty with Spain to focus on his club form which clearly needs some attention.
The former Manchester United defender jumped to his own defence by saying blaming goals conceded on him is in fashion.
“I know that there are many people who are hoping that things don’t go well for me,” he told reporters.
“They can enjoy it, they should come out of their caves and enjoy the sun. There are many people waiting for me and want to go for me.
“When we concede a goal it’s my fault, there are people who are waiting for me, but not only in Madrid.
“The TV can take advantage, come out of the cave, because this is going to change.”
Valverde has faced criticism for his decisions regarding late substitutions and also his omission of Malcom.
Thankfully for Barcelona, many of the top clubs in La Liga have struggled for form this season meaning they’re still firmly in the race.
Last season’s Barca may have already run away with the title.
Atletico have found their feet and have won five of their last six after starting slowly.
Real Madrid are four matches in all competitions without a defeat or even scoring a goal.
Julen Lopetegui is now at serious risk of losing his job just months after leaving the Spanish national team on the eve of their World Cup campaign.
